David Hymes passed away on Friday, November 28, 2025. Born and raised in the Poconos of Pennsylvania, he attended Penn State in PA, Stanford in California and NYU in NYC with different majors at each university. He just couldn't make up his mind what to be when he grew up. Fortunately, he didn't grow up too much.
He did graduate from East Stroudsburg University in PA with a BSW and spent many years helping children as a social worker. David created a very successful independent living program teaching life skills to teenagers who were leaving foster care which is still used today at Children and Youth Services.
His favorite activity was acting. He had major roles in many stage productions including Of Mice and Men, Macbeth, My Fair Lady, The Man Who Came to Dinner, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Inherit the Wind, Rumors, The Foreigner, You Can't Take It With You, and many more. He had a wonderful voice and loved singing.
David loved sports and all games. He was an avid golfer and in later years he enjoyed shuffleboard. He put his best effort into everything in which he was involved and he remembered everything. No one could beat him at Trivial Pursuit.
David enjoyed all aspects of life - sports, reading, travel, museums, music, theater, photography and especially all the friends he made along the way. He made the most of every experience. David was a real renaissance man.
He traveled all around the United States, the Netherlands, England, France, Germany, and Spain. David lived life to the fullest.
After retirement, he spent half of each year in Florida where he joined the Seabreeze community with much enthusiasm taking on many responsibilities there with the main one being the treasurer of the Residents 'Association.
He is survived by his wife Stephanie Hymes who was by his side for 40 years, granddaughter, Alisa Keiper, and great-granddaughter, Ash Keiper-Kintz.
Dave will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Cherished memories will bring tears to our eyes and love to our hearts until our eyes no longer see and our hearts no longer beat.

Earlier today

So many happy high school memories! We were truly a wild and wacky gang - and David was frequently the instigator of our many antics. Peace and love, Dave, from Paula (your first wife).
