David Isaac Kavanaugh died in a tragic accident on August 26, 2021. Born July 15, 1983 in Denver, Colorado, the only son of Bea and Don Kavanaugh was forever a momma's boy.
He attended Northglenn High School before graduating from Colorado State High School in 2003, a feat which meant overcoming multiple learning disabilities, and a testament to his perseverance despite many challenges.
As a lifelong resident and Colorado native, David loved his Denver Broncos. He also enjoyed weightlifting, wrestling, boxing, and taking long walks while contemplating the many wonders of life. In his late teens, he took on the challenge of training for and running in the Boulder Bolder – he took great pride in being "the fat guy" passing all the "skinny guys."
Remembered by many as a gentle, kind, and loving soul, David never met a stranger, could talk to anyone, and was the quintessential friend to the friendless who had great compassion for the homeless, often preferring their company over the comforts of home. Due to his unique perspective, David had a penchant for asking thought-provoking questions, challenging those around him to ponder the deeper meaning of life.
Being an Uncle to Hunter and Hayley was David's greatest source of pride, and he was excited to gain another niece and nephew when his sister re-married.
When he wasn't engaged in physical activity or socializing, David binged on the Rocky series and would watch any movie with boxing. More than anything he loved the history channel and would often spend days watching "Ancient Alien" marathons.
In his finally years, David was supported by the Imagine! community and residential program, an organization dedicated to helping people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
While David's path on this earthly plane had many challenges, he never stopped believing in God and knew the Lord had him wrapped in His loving arms throughout his life.
David is survived by his mother, Beatrice (Marquez) Kavanaugh; his sister and brother-in-law, Cynthia and Andy Williams; his nephews and nieces: Hunter, Hayley, Seren, and Caden; and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his father, Don Kavanaugh; grandparents, and many extended but close relatives.
