David William Jensen

David William Jensen, 71, of Canal Winchester, OH, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 29, 2025. David was born on November 24th, 1953, in Racine, Wisconsin to Robert and Beverly Jensen. He was the first of three boys, followed by his brothers, Paul and Kirt. After graduating from J.I. Case High School, he desired a career in the ministry and attended Carthage College in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Following Carthage, he began his seminary training at Luther Northwestern in Minnesota and finished at Lutheran School of Theology in Chicago. It is here that he met his wife, Sheryl, and the two were each other's lifelong companions and friends. They were blessed with three boys, Matthew, Jonathan, and Benjamin. A devoted father, David was dedicated to providing for his children. He had a long career with the U.S. Postal Service. Working tirelessly, he provided unwavering support, ensuring that his family's needs were always met. Most of his free days were spent with his boys, doing sports and special activities with each of them. He enjoyed beach vacations, traveling to new places, and trying new things. Furthermore, he remained forever intrigued by the glory and power of God. He was deeply involved with various churches and study groups continuing to study theology until his final days. He was always digging deeper, wanting to know more, and is now with THE Source for the answers to all his questions. Those that remain to cherish his memory are his wife of 42 years, Sheryl; sons, Matthew (Michelle), Jonathan (Tiffany), Benjamin (Karissa); grandchildren, Lucas, Thorvald, Bailey, Michael, Alethea; his mother, Beverly; his brothers, Paul (Nanna) Kirt (Shelley); nieces, Ashley, Samantha, Emily, Alonza; nephews, Jai, Dylan, Daniel, Timothy, Benjamin, Peter, Cortez, and many loving friends. David will be remembered as a child of God, faithful husband, supportive father, proud grandfather and loving son, whose presence will be greatly missed. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 31, 2025, at Peace Free Lutheran Church, 28 Elm Street, Canal Winchester, OH. Light luncheon and visitation will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Come and See Foundation which produces the TV show, The Chosen.
