For anyone who knew David J. Kraft, the world is a little less bright today. Born on March 20, 1947, in the City of Brotherly Love, Dave was a man who lived every day of his life as though it was a grand adventure. Known for his charismatic personality and his unforgettable sense of humor, Dave, or Pop Pop as he was lovingly referred to by his grandchildren, had a knack for making every room he walked into a little bit warmer. As Mark Twain once said, "The secret of success is making your vocation your vacation." Dave embodied this sentiment, spending 30 plus rewarding years in telecommunications with Bell Telephone and retiring in 2003 from Verizon.
Dave was a man who knew the true value of resilience. He served our nation bravely in the U.S. Army as a tank gunner during the Vietnam War and was proud of his service. When it came time to relax, you could often find him cheering on the Phillies and the Eagles, reading a good book, or singing and dancing to The Doors and The Beatles. He was a man of simple tastes and found joy in the things that truly mattered: family, friends, or a good game of poker. He enjoyed a cold beer especially on the beach along the South Jersey Shore. But above all else, Dave loved spending time with his family. As he often said, "The best things in life aren't things."
Dave leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter. He is survived by his children David (Kim) Kraft, Alicia (Sean) Ondush, Christopher (Gina) Kraft, and Monica (Sat) Sharma, as well as stepchildren Kelly Donahgy and Krista Shevlin. His sister Susan (Robert) Trost. His parents, Leon Jr. and Anna Kraft, and his spouse, Susan Kraft, preceded him in death. He will be sadly missed by his 15 grandchildren, nephews, and nieces. A viewing will be held on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at 9:30 am at Lambie Funeral Home, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am. Graveside and Military Honors will be held later that day at 12:15 pm at North Cedar Hill Cemetery.
In celebration of Dave's life, the love he shared, and the lives he touched, we invite you to leave your memories and upload photos to the memorial page. Let's remember Dave, the charismatic, funny, resilient, smart man who taught us all to enjoy life's simple pleasures.
