David "Knobby" H. Krier passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2025 at his residence in Norristown, Pa at the age of 95. He was born in Norristown, PA on July 23, 1929, the 4th of 5 children to Headley and Frieda (Steinhilber) Krier.
David was in the US Air Force from 1950 to 1954, serving as a Structural Firefighter and Crash Rescue, being discharged with the rank of Buck Sergeant (E3). After his discharge he worked at the Times Herald, first in Circulation and then in the Press Room. Knobby was later a Union Plumber with Local 690.
Knobby was a life member of the former Norristown Fire Co., where he volunteered for over 70 years. Through his years there, he served as Child Engineer, Vice President, President, and Assistant Chief.
Surviving is his loving family including a son, Douglas H. Krier (Karen); a daughter, Mindy K. Oslowski (Gary); 5 grandchildren: Alex and Andrew Krier and Cailee, Kendall, and Jordan Oslowski; a sister, Virginia "Ginny" Ginther (Robert); as well as many extended relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary F. (Ford) Krier who passed away in 2008 and his 3 siblings, Gordon "Cork" Krier, Esther "Essie" Heimer, and Dorothy "Dot" Zenzer.
Knobby's viewing will be at The Bacchi Funeral Home & Crematory, Ltd., 805 DeKalb St., Bridgeport, PA on Monday, February 3, 2025 from 9 to 10:50am, with Words of Remembrance starting at 11:00am. Interment and Military Honors will be at Riverside Cemetery, Norristown, PA.
In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated in Knobby's memory to Norristown Professional Firefighters Union, P.O. Box 1157, Norristown, Pa 19404
