David Meacham Obituary

Published by Legacy on Jul. 31, 2023.
Age 59 of Elk River, MN. Died Saturday, July 29, 2023 at The Estates at Twin Rivers in Anoka, MN.
Dave is survived by his wife Liz Meacham and Nathaniel (his little trooper) of Elk River, MN; stepdaughter: Cecilia Lettner, Shoreview MN and stepson; Prescot Ngaling, South Minneapolis; aunt: Linda (LeRoy) Pauley of St. Cloud, MN; a nephew and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carol J. Meacham in 2015 and Lois Ann Meacham in 2019; nephew, Frederick Viker in 2018.
Meach worked in law enforcement for the Edina police department and the Red Lake Indian reservation. He also helped train DNR Conservation Officers at Camp Ripley by setting up poaching scenarios (and never getting himself caught).
He was a major supporter on the local chapters of the National Wild Turkey Federation and it was common for him to give back the guns he won so they could be resold and increase the revenue to the chapter.
Meach truly tried helping others find their own connections with the outdoors with his own passions. He had a giving heart so large most chest cavities wouldn't be able to hold it. He had the hope that if everyone helped with whatever they were able, it would catch on.
Words from his friends:
When my phone rang and it was a call from Meach, it was common to hear him say that he called to tell me that he was sitting there naked and thinking about me, or to ask why I haven't called him for a while, didn't I love him anymore? To say that Meach tested the boundaries of humor was to also say he tested the boundaries of friendship. He expected some reply such as "I really know why your naked, the fashion police have repossessed your clothes" or "you know I still love you but I'm married". Humor was a two-way street with Meach.
Dave had a special young man in his life that he told me was so much like a son to him even though not bonded by blood. Nathaniel, Dave was so very proud of you! Stories of you were plentiful and so heartfelt! He will always watch over you young man.
A Celebration of life will be held Friday, August 4, 2023 at Dare's Funeral and Cremation, 805 Main St, Elk River MN, from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
A private grave side service will be held for Dave in McGregor MN at a later date.

I´m so sorry to hear that Dave has passed. We were married in the 90s. He was a great guy.

First time I meet Meach was my first day at work, I was stocking shelves when up comes this giant of a man and yells catch me I'm falling! My 5'5 140 lbs actually jumped up to help, we laughed and got along just fine from then on.
