David R. Meyer, age 74, of Woodstock IL passed away October 3, 2024 with his family by his side. Cherished Companion to Linda Rizzo for 21 wonderful years. Loving father to David Meyer and Brian (Jessica) Meyer and step father to Francesca, Lynn, Annette and their spouses. Beloved grandfather to Ashlyn, Cale, six bonus grandkids and 4 great-grandchildren. Dear brother to Judith (Ronald) Habbley, the late Carol (the late Leonard), and the late Linda (Larry) Fay. Adored uncle to many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Loving cousin to many.
David spent countless hours on the baseball diamond as a young man, and his love of sports transitioned into lifelong support for his favorite Chicago teams, the Cubs and the Bears. David proudly served for 5 years in the U.S Air Force including a year in Vietnam. He took great pride in his home, particularly his yard, which was his personal oasis. The mature trees he nurtured over the years stood as a testament to his patience and commitment to growth and beauty. In his moments of relaxation, David enjoyed the classic Westerns of John Wayne, finding comfort and excitement in the adventures that unfolded on the screen. He also worked for Black Dot as the Comptroller for 25 years. David Meyer was the epitome of a loving and selfless individual, whose memory will be cherished and celebrated by all who were fortunate enough to have been part of his life. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
