David Moore Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Heald Funeral Home - Saint Albans on Jan. 29, 2026.
David Moore passed away peacefully at home on January 26, 2026, in the presence of his immediate family. David suffered from dementia and came to live with family in St. Albans who cared for him after the death of his wife in 2024.

Born September 27, 1940, in Blackwood, NJ, David was Albert and Beatrice Moore's second of three children.

He married Doris Vavrek in 1967 and moved to Massachusetts where they raised their two daughters, Jessica and Jennifer. He retired from General Electric Aerospace in Lynn, MA where he worked as an electron beam welder.

He enjoyed the great outdoors as an avid sportsman, through camping, hunting, birding watching and canoeing. Motorcycling and model train-building were also lifetime hobbies.

He is predeceased by both parents and his brother Robert (Bob).

He is survived by his sister Carol; both children, the Reverend Jessica Moore (Stephen McLaughlin) and Jennifer Yarbrough (Mark Yarbrough) as well as two grandchildren, Leah and Benjamin Yarbrough.

The family sends heartfelt gratitude to the many people who supported the family during David's care including the congregations of First Congregational Church (UCC) of St. Albans and Christ Church Presbyterian of Burlington; Karen, who runs the memory singing program at Care Partners; UVM Memory Clinic; VNA Hospice; Dr. Mara Vijups and Karma; Sandy Cristman; and especially Jessica 'Dimples' Pecor and her therapy dog Zen who provided David with adventures and companionship.

There are no services planned at this time.

Honored to be serving the family of David Moore is Rett Heald of the Heald Funeral Home, where messages of condolence are welcome at www.healdfuneralhome.com.
