David Allen Mudgett, age 86, a longtime resident of Chelmsford, passed away peacefully at the Residence at Freeman Lake, Chelmsford, on Thursday, March 6, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Jane (Carleton) Mudgett with whom he enjoyed 61 years of marriage.
He was born in Norwood on August 25, 1938, and was the son of the late Perley and Vida (Nickerson) Mudgett.
In addition to his loving wife, David is survived by his son Gary and his wife Jeanine Mudgett of Charlotte, NC, his grandson, Jeffrey Mudgett of Lancaster, SC, and his granddaughter, Katelynn Mudgett of Charlotte, NC. David also leaves his brothers Paul Mudgett and his three children John, Sue and Tim, and his brother Peter and his wife Diane Mudgett and their three children, Allen, Leslie and Erica. He also leaves "like family" friends Dan and Jennifer Lewis of Groton, and his other sons Richard and Rosemary Mudgett of Huntsville, AL and Robert Mudgett of WA and his son Andrew.
Sadly, he was predeceased by his sister-in-law Cherie Mudgett.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday, July 28, 2025, from 9 am – 11 am in the BLAKE CHELMSFORD FUNERAL HOME, 24 Worthen St., CHELMSFORD. His funeral service will be held in the funeral home following the visitation at 11 am. Interment will be held privately.
