New Comer Cremations & Funerals - WatervlietAlbany- David O. Newcomb, Jr., 64, passed away suddenly Monday, August 11, 2025. Born in Albany he was the son of the late David Newcomb, Sr. and Kathleen DiPace Newcomb.
David was a beloved father, brother, uncle and son, whose life was anchored in the love of his family. His happiest days were enjoying his passion for the outdoors. He spent countless hours hunting, fishing, camping, and finding freedom and peace in the open air, riding his motorcycles. Many of his best memories were spent riding bikes with his lifelong friends, taking trips on open roads, and traveling to music concerts. His life was a testament to hard work, deep friendships, and a love for life’s simple joys. David will be remembered most for his unwavering loyalty. His devotion, his humor, and his spirit will be treasured always.
After graduating from Albany High School, David worked for the family businesses, was a volunteer firefighter and Active Retired member of the Fuller Road Fire Department. David was a licensed electrician, tree feller, carpenter and overall handyman.
David is survived by his loving daughter, Mackenzie Newcomb; brother of Carolyn Garland (John) and Kathy Allison, uncle to Kelcey Garland, John Garland, Jr. (Kaitlyn), Zachary Spencer, and the late Jessica Allison as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who will miss him deeply.
Relatives and friends are invited to a celebration of life with David’s family on Saturday, September 6, 2025, 6:00pm–11:00pm at Fuller Road Fire Department Banquet Hall 1342 Central Avenue, Albany, NY. The Memorial Service will be held at 6:30 pm.
