David Raymond Quinlan, known affectionately as Dave, passed away unexpectedly on January 27, 2025, at the age of 66. Born on July 20, 1958, in Louisville, KY, Dave lived a life dedicated to service and family. He spent much of his career in law enforcement, serving in the Jefferson County Police Department Radio Room, the Jeffersontown Police Department as a patrolman and D.A.R.E. Officer, and the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office. Additionally, he served on the Jeffersontown City Council for 10 years, leaving a lasting impact on the community.
Dave was married to his high school sweetheart, Kim, for 45 wonderful years. Together, they raised a loving family that includes their son Brandon and daughter Brittany Knipp, along with their spouses Ashley and Sean, respectively. He was a proud grandfather to four grandchildren who were "the light of his life": Nate, Hayden, Cora, and Will, and cherished every moment spent watching them play sports and taking them to Kentucky Kingdom. His dog, Mia, was also a beloved part of his life.
Dave's warmth and love for his family, especially his grandbabies, were defining traits of his personality. He often reminded those around him of his life motto, "Living the Dream," which reflected his positive outlook and zest for life. Dave was living out this motto with the love of his life, at his favorite place; Fort Myers Beach.
Dave is preceded in death by his parents William (Bill) and Geneva (Jean) Quinlan, along with his brother Bill Quinlan Jr.
Dave is survived by his sisters, Robin Heuke (Gerald) and Cindy Welch (Donnie), as well as many close family members, friends, and his esteemed brothers in law enforcement and his PRP High School classmates. His legacy of love, service, and dedication will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A celebration of life will be planned at a later date
