He was a talented artist as well as a skilled musician. He had his own BlueGrass Band known as the Tunxis Mountain Boys and shared the stage with numerous musicians throughout his playing career. He played the Banjo with ease and was known as a "By ear" musician (which is self taught) and he also taught others many string instruments.
He was a lifelong Boston Red Sox and Hartford Whalers fan. David loved spending time with family and looked forward to the annual family reunions. He is already deeply missed.
In addition to his devoted wife, he leaves his cherished children, Jill Carr and husband Randolph of FL, Holly Schiffert and husband Robert of Weatogue and Kurt Ransom of Riverton; five grandchildren, Heather Wolkersdoffer and husband Brad of FL, Ryan Carr and Katherine Carr, both of FL, Nicole Smith of Washington Depot and Kristin Smith of MA; three great grandchildren, Hailey, Andrew and Mikeala; two siblings, Stanley Ransom, Jr., and wife Christine of NY and Florence Walker of FL; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
