David William Roalf passed away on November 13, 2025, at the age of 79 after a courageous journey with Parkinson's disease.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Marvin W. Roalf and Alice Needham Roalf of Allison, IA.
Dave is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sheila Connors, his children Coletta and her husband Daniel Taylor, David Roalf and his wife Sarah, and Laura Roalf and her fiancé Vish Harypursat, grandchildren Morgan Taylor, Max Taylor, Harlan Roalf and Josie Roalf as well as Dave's brother Edward Roalf and his wife Cindy.
Dave was born in Waterloo, IA and attended West High School, he is a graduate of the University of Northern Iowa and a Veteran of the U.S. Army who served in Vietnam. Following his discharge at Ft. Lee, VA he began his 41-year career as a Physical Education teacher in Prince George, VA working at schools including Walton and Harrison Elementary. He also completed an Education Masters Degree from VCU. In the summers Dave worked at and eventually became the Coordinator of the Prince George School System Paint Crew. Following his retirement Dave and his wife relocated to Fountain Hills, AZ to be closer to family.
He was a lifelong L.A. Dodger and San Fransico 49ers fan and was thrilled to see the Dodgers win back-to-back World Series. He volunteered many hours to coaching and assistant coaching in several baseball leagues in Prince George County. He was a devoted member of Sacred Heart Parish in Prince George and loved playing Bingo and working in the Garden. Dave truly enjoyed connecting with friends, former students, and players over their love of the game and enjoyed attending many Arizona Spring Training games. He also enjoyed gardening and the outdoors and was always up for a fun jigsaw puzzle or a round of dominos.
Known for his kindness, he always went out of his way to lend a hand, whether it was to get the mail for a neighbor, hang up a sign for a fellow teacher or drive many hours to transport a family member. The family fondly remembers him as a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather always willing to help of his children at any time and always ready with a funny greeting for his grandchildren.
The funeral Mass will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, December 29, 2025, at Church of the Ascension in Fountain Hills, AZ with a reception to follow in the church hall. A Celebration of Life is being planned in Prince George County, VA in Spring 2026.
