David (Dave) Byron Snyder, 79, of Klamath Falls, OR, passed away on January 19, 2025.
Dave was born on February 9, 1945, to Dorothy Vaughn and Byron Snyder in Bend, OR before the family relocated to Klamath Falls. After Dave graduated from Henley High School in 1963, he went on to study at Oregon Institute of Technology before going to work for the Great Northern Railroad. He went on to enlist in in the military in 1965.
After serving in the armed forces, including deployment to South Korea, he was honorably discharged in 1968. Upon returning to Klamath Falls, Dave continued working for the Great Northern Railroad. This kickstarted a 62-year career in the industry. He held several positions before becoming the elected General Chairman for the United Transportation Union in 1986, until he retired in 2011.
In 1964, Dave met Jody Wonser on a blind date. They were married in December of 1965 and went on to have two children, Gary and Kenneth Snyder.
After retirement, Dave spent his time in the outdoors fishing, hunting, and camping. He enjoyed home projects and could fix anything! In the evenings, you could find Dave & Jody enjoying their beautiful outdoor space and sharing a good meal.
Dave was predeceased by his parents, Dorothy and Byron, and his son Gary. He is survived by his wife Jody, son and daughter-in-law Kenneth & Amy, grandchildren: Heather, Andrea, Alicia, Anna, and Samuel, and great grandchildren: Riley, Lukas, and Rosie Mae. He is also survived by his brother, Gary (Buz) Snyder and dear friends, Dick Barlow and Katie Barlow Bruner.

I will never forget Dave. He was a man's man. He was a true example of honesty, integrity, fairness, and hard work. He was someone to look up to, and I respected and admired Dave to the utmost. I am truly sorry for the family's loss, especially Jody and Kenny. It is a loss for everyone who knew him.
I throughly loved working at the railroad with him and his son Gary. I pray they're having a glorious reunion and I know they are in the loving arms of Jesus. May you both rest in peace. You are both very much loved and missed...

My memories of Dave, are hunting and fishing, his free advice that guided me to the right direction. And how he is at peace with his son and my best friend Gary. I hope they will both be out fishing like they used. Love Pat McCardell.

Thank you for giving me 54 years of love, support, counsel and guidance. Your example of honesty, integrity and compassion have molded and shaped me to be the best version of myself. I will forever cherish our many hunting and fishing expeditions and the laughter and wisdom shared. I´m still numb from your passing but know I will feel your absence for a life time. I love you Dad!
