David Snyder Obituary

Published by Legacy on Jul. 20, 2025.
David Addison Snyder Jr., affectionately known as Dave, passed away on July 17, 2025, in Avon, Ohio, surrounded by his loving family. His journey began in Butler, Pennsylvania, on February 14, 1943, where he was born into a family that would later behold a man of exemplary character and affection. Dave's life was a tapestry of love, dedication, and service woven through the hearts of those who knew him.
Dave walked through life with his beloved wife, Bonnie Young-Snyder, by his side for 57 years. Together, they shared the joy of watching their family grow. Their son, Rick Snyder (Thuy), and daughter Cindy Plato (Kevin) blessed them with the laughter and warmth of granddaughters Raigen, Mia, Emily, Tina, Jenny, and Addison. Additionally, Dave was blessed with brother-in-law Brad Young (Donna), niece Kristine Young-Demsey (Chuck) and many other friends. These precious moments with his family were the cornerstones of his existence.
A proud graduate of Butler High School and Baldwin Wallace College, Dave dedicated his professional years to Travelers Insurance, where he worked for thirty fruitful years. A tireless worker, he carried the same determination and commitment to his community activities. His country forever held a special place in his heart, showcased through his service as an Air Force veteran.
Dave's dedication to service continued as he actively participated in guiding young people as a Boy Scout Troop leader for over 18 years. His faith as a Christian was evident, as he dutifully served as the Church Treasurer, for Avon United Methodist for 26 years, a testament to his steadfastness and deep spiritual roots.
Known for his wisdom, loving nature, and generosity, Dave's interests painted a picture of a man who embraced the beauty of life and the great outdoors. Whether it was the tranquility of fishing, the thrill of hunting, the creativity of cooking, the focus in golfing, or the joy of traveling across the United States and our winter home in Florida, he lived his passions fully. A lifelong fan of the Cleveland Indians, the song of birds, and the precision of target shooting sports, and gardening, Dave embraced the world with enthusiasm.
Dave's keen interest in preserving history was apparent in his personal hobbies. His extensive collections of WWII guns, stamps, coins, and the art of photography revealed his diverse intrigue and respect for the past. Friends were also important to Dave, whether it was the guys he worked with, or couples' nights playing cards and games.
As Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, "To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded." Dave lived by these words, always extending a helping hand and a warm smile, ensuring those around him felt comfort, love, and joy.
Dave's life is a blueprint of a life well-lived, full of lessons on love, kindness, and the pursuit of passion. His legacy is reflected in the wisdom passed down to his children and granddaughters, forever encapsulating the man who was at once, a devoted family man, a patriot, and an active community pillar.
His passing leaves a void in the many lives he touched, yet those who knew him will continue to celebrate Dave's remarkable journey through life. The chapters of his story will be revisited through shared memories, the values he instilled, and the love that can never fade.
David Addison Snyder Jr.'s life was not merely about the years in his life, but indeed, about the life in his years, leaving us all enriched for having known him. He will be deeply missed yet always cherished in the hearts of those who loved him.
