David Swader, age 76 of Gatesville, passed away on Sunday, July 23, 2023.
Graveside services with Naval Honors are scheduled at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery with Pastor Russ Cochran officiating.
David Lloyd Swader was born on February 26, 1947 to the late Alvin and Pearl Needham Swader in Mesa, Arizona. He grew up and attended school in Gilbert, Arizona. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Navy and was stationed in San Diego, California. He served two tours in Vietnam and later retired after serving for nearly 12 years. He met the love of his life, Elizabeth McManigal, in 1975, and the two were married in August of the following year. He and Elizabeth made their home in Freemont, California, where he owned his own business, Dave's Tire Service for over 22 years. After his second retirement, he and Elizabeth moved to Gatesville to be closer to family.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Martha, Virgie, and Linda; and brothers, Henry and Edgar.
David is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Swader; sister, Nancy Rainwater, brothers, Wesley and Johnny Swader; children, Deanna Swader, and Linda Swader; numerous grandchildren including Libby and Lauren, and of course his fur babies, Reo and Max.
