Carlton Andre Swader, 66, of Spotsylvania County, passed away on Friday, May 9, 2025, at Spotsylvania Regional Hospital.
He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1980 to 1991 and continued his dedication to service as an administrative assistant at DeWitt Army Hospital until his retirement in 2013. Carlton retired to care for his beloved wife, a reflection of the deep love and devotion he showed his family throughout his life. He had a passion for music and found joy in caring for those he loved most. His steady presence, generous heart, and quiet strength will be dearly missed.
Carlton is survived by his daughter, Andrene Gillis (Anthony); grandchildren Jada Raelynn (Noah), Carlton JaCory, Asia Renee, and Aaron Jacob; his soon-to-be great grandchild, Emorie Reign; sisters Marsha Swader and Nicole Terrell (Roy); sisters-in-law Marcella Hamer and Cheryl Hamer; step-brothers Tony Davis and Ronald Storey (Debbie); uncle Carlton Strachan; cousin Joyce Chandler; aunt Janice Hopkins; niece Regina Swader; and many other nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Linell Swader; mother Bessie Storey; father Lawrence Swader; stepfather Salathiel Storey; brothers Lawrence Steven Swader (Lorelle) and Gregory Allen Swader; and aunt Verne Strachan.
A service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 2, 2025, at Union Bell Baptist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 3, at Quantico National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Marsha Swader.
