William "Bill" Woody Jones, II of
Fredericksburg, Virginia, passed away at his home in Spotsylvania County on Monday, August 18, 2025, at the age of 67, with his loving wife, Melody, by his side, holding his hand as he entered the presence of His Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ. He had battled bravely with his sudden onset and diagnosis of Pancreatic Cancer since June 2025.
He worked as an Auto-Cad Design Specialist for nearly 50 years with several companies where he developed friendships with his co-workers that have lasted a lifetime. His current employment with CACI gave him the gift of friends and "brothers" who meant so much to him and his wife. You didn't meet a stranger when you met "Woody", or "Bill", as he was lovingly called by family and friends, but you met a devoted friend for life. "Woody" was a class of 1976 graduate from Stafford High School.
He enjoyed traveling all around the world and met some incredible people everywhere he went. Bill was a devoted and loving husband, a man of strong Christian character and his faith encouraged others. He and his wife were members of Temple Baptist Church. People could know that when he said he would be praying for them, he followed through, often on his knees with his wife kneeling alongside him. They read through the Bible together over a dozen times. He treasured his time with his wife, Melody, her children, their grandchildren, his mother-in-law, Marjorie Green and their extended family. When his first granddaughter was just a toddler, she gave him the name of Boohl, a name that he always said was his favorite name to be called. Boohl rode many rides at Kings Dominion over the years with his grandchildren, was present at ballet recitals, award ceremonies, their sport activities, and involved in their lives. Bill never felt like a step-dad, but felt like he was a father to Melody's three adult children. He often said that it was a privilege and great blessing and gift from God to have them. Bill was quite a sculptor, designer, craftsman and artist. He enjoyed watching old movies, music, reading, and helping his wife with projects around their home.
Often, he would sing and dance with his wife in their home and even when they would be out somewhere, if a song came on, they would take a moment to dance or sing. The little moments and funny adventures with him will be missed greatly. Memories will be treasured.
Survivors include his wife, Melody (Green) Tackett-Jones; stepsons John David Tackett (Michelle) and Jordan Tackett; stepdaughter Laura (Tackett) Scrivener (Joe); and grandchildren Elizabeth Tackett, Noah Scrivener, Natalie Tackett, Eliyanah Scrivener, Christian Tackett, Benjamin Tackett, and Trinity Tackett.
A service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, August 29, 2025, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Temple Baptist Church at 300 White Oak Road,
