David Ulery Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Tate Mortuary on Jan. 5, 2024.
David Lee Ulery
1963-2023
Our husband, father, brother, and friend Dave Ulery left this Earth on December
26, 2023, after a heroic 18-year ass kicking of esthesioneuroblastoma, at his home in Stansbury Park, Utah. He left with the sounds of laughter, stories, music, singing and words of love, surrounded by his family and pets. He is dearly loved and greatly missed.
Dave was born on July 16, 1963, in Clearfield, PA to Reynor and Evelyn Ulery. He
was the third child of three and the only son. When Dave was in elementary
school, his family relocated to Shiremanstown, PA. It was a small community with many families and Dave enjoyed his growing up years and creating life-long
friendships playing baseball, riding bikes, and later skiing, attending concerts, and taking trips "across the Maryland line" with those same friends.
Dave was a member of the Mechanicsburg PA High School class of 1981. He also received a degree in Industrial Engineering from Penn State University, as well as an MBA from Kutztown University. He was employed by Carlisle Syntec, now Carlisle Construction Materials, in August 1987 and worked in numerous plants in various capacities as Engineer, Production Manager, and Plant Manager until retiring due to illness in 2021. Dave loved his job, his company, and most importantly to him, the numerous friends he made there over the years. Dave hated to miss a day of work and never called in sick unless he was forced to, even during 8 years of grueling cancer treatments. He showed up every day during lock down. He continued to work until his disease forced him into early retirement in 2021. He never stopped trying or fighting. He was a true Warrior. In addition to his job, Dave was active in many civic organizations and endeavors to help improve the lives of others. He was a youth baseball coach for many years, a member of the Greater Carlisle United Way Board of Directors, a member of South Middleton Youth Baseball Association Board of Directors, a member of the Tooele Applied Technology College Board of Directors/Head of Finance Subcommittee, a member of the Tooele County United Way Advisory Board, a member of Tooele County Chamber of Commerce as well as Fairy Godfather to the Tooele Boys and Girls Club, where he was known to drop in with boxes filled with catered food and treats from work.
Dave was an avid skier, and moving to Utah with the best snow on Earth was a
dream come true for him. He took full advantage of it and skied right up until he
no longer physically could. Dave was also a dedicated gym rat for YEARS and loved working out, riding the bike, and especially playing racquetball with his buddies. He loved music, travel, FOOD, reading, and watching sports of any kind. Dave was a lifelong loyal fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Minnesota Vikings. He was also fiercely loyal to his family and friends.
Dave is survived by his wife and companion of 39 years, Julie (Castelluccio) Ulery of Stansbury Park, son Joshua of Stansbury Park, son Noah (Hannah) of Boulder, CO, sister Betsy Kotsch (Gary) of West Chester, PA, sister Susan Ulery (Rick) of Enola, PA, his sister-in-love and dear friend Angela MacDonald of New
Cumberland PA, sisters-in-law Judy (Don) Eakle Waynesboro, PA, Rebecca (Terry) Burns of Harrisburg PA, Teresa Hoover, Waynesboro PA, as well as nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents Reynor and Evelyn Ulery, his in-laws
John and Betty Castelluccio of Waynesboro PA, his nephew Jordan MacDonald of New Cumberland PA, and his brothers-in-law Lindsey Hoover (Waynesboro PA) and Mike Castelluccio (Stillwater, MN).
Celebrations of Dave's life will be held in Utah and Pennsylvania, when the sun is
shining, the air is warm, and our hearts are not so bruised. Details will be
published at a later date. In lieu of flowers, should anyone desire, donations can
