Judith Ulery Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Snyder Funeral Homes, DeVore Chapel on Jan. 20, 2026.
Judith Kay Ulery, age 83, of Delaware, Ohio passed away on Saturday, January 17, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on November 3, 1942, in Sunbury, Ohio to the late Gerald Nuckles and Irene (Cantrell) Nuckles.

Judy graduated from Big Walnut High School, Class of 1960 and then graduated from the White Cross Hospital Nursing School. She dedicated herself to providing medical care and helping others at Riverside Methodist Hospital. Judy expanded her career in a different direction by becoming District Manager with Avon which gave her another way of helping others build their confidence and their own business.

On September 29, 1963, Judy married Vernon Lee Ulery. Together they created a loving family and shared 62 wonderful years of marriage.

Judy was such an artist in so many ways of life, whether it be painting, scrapbooking, knitting, baking, or cooking. She truly had a knack for so many hobbies and interests. Judy was truly phenomenal at all of them, and never gave herself a ton of credit. She made every birthday party, holiday and sleepover a different kind of special. Judy would decorate, bake and create personal touches to make every occasion special. Her family acknowledges the special touches from small heart-shaped boxes of chocolate on Valentine's Day, personalized Easter bags for everyone, hot cocoa bars and popcorn balls at Christmas, and random Mother's Day lunches. Judy remembered details because she cared about people. She would remember if you liked dark chocolate or milk chocolate, she would remember if you were a vegetarian and make sure there was food prepared for you, she would attend every recital, track meet, metal concert, Fire Performing Show, and doctor's appointment. No matter what you were doing, Judy was a constant support.

Judy valued her family above all else. She cared, she listened, and she always picked up the phone. Judy accepted everyone for who they were. She did not judge or try to change anyone but simply provided love and support. Judy was a beautiful special kind of person that you do not come across often. She will always be in our hearts, deeply loved and forever remembered for the wonderful woman she was and the blessings she freely shared with her family and friends.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Vernon Ulery; daughter, Amy Lynne Ulery (Andrew Jones); son, Michael Joseph (Laura) Ulery; grandchildren, Serenity, Skyler, Alexander, and Helena; great-grandchildren, Trent Pierce and Cloud Kuehner; brother, Richard (Karen) Nuckles; and sister, Ella Mae (Art) Holmes.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Gerald and Irene Nuckles.

Friends may call on Friday, January 23, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. – Noon at Snyder Funeral Homes, DeVore Chapel, 637 North State Route 61, Sunbury, Ohio 43074 with a funeral service beginning at Noon. Burial will immediately follow at Sunbury Memorial Park. Minister Don Glenn officiating.
