David D. Upton, age 86, of Perrinton passed away Sunday, February 2, 2025, in the comfort of his home. The son of Donald and Maple (Underwood) Upton, he was born on December 21, 1938, in Clinton County.
In August of 1962, he married Patricia Garris, a blessed union of nearly 62 years. David was proud to become a stepfather to her 4 children: Judy, Karen, Jeff, and Toni. A man of many interests, David lived a full life. He was a hardworking man who farmed numerous acres and had a farrow-to-finish hog operation for many years. He and Patricia had a home in Florida for 25 years that they enjoyed spending time at, but they were always sure to be back home in time to put seeds in the ground. He was a member of the NRA, a fisherman, and a big-game hunter whose travels took him around the world.
David is survived by his children Judy (Ken Pung) Adams, Karen Coleman, Jeff (Kandy Litwiller) Taylor, and Toni (Brad) Vanderstow; 7 grandchildren; several great and great-great-grandchildren; brother Dennis Upton; sisters Janet Schaffer and Edie Upton; and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife Patricia; parents; brothers Larry Upton, Bill Upton, and Donny Upton; son-in-law (and farming partner) Kenneth Coleman; and grandchildren Kirk Adams and Teresa Adams.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, from 6-8pm at Dodge Funeral Home, Middleton. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2025, at 11am at the funeral home, with Pastor Mona Kindel officiating, with interment to follow Payne Cemetery, which was originally founded by David's family.
