David VanDenburgh

David Earle Van Denburgh, age 79, of Keeseville NY, passed away peacefully March 20th 2025. His wife of 57 years, Beverly was faithfully by his side.
Dave was a proud alumnus of SUNY Geneseo where he majored in history. After college he served in the US Army as a lineman during the Vietnam War. In his civilian career, Dave was a professional social worker. He was passionate about helping others and proud of the profession he chose as well as his service to his country.
David met the love of his life, Beverly, while they were both VISTA volunteers in Tennessee. They bonded over their desired service for others and quickly fell in love.
He was a storyteller and family ancestry enthusiast. He was an artist both in his wood shop where he practiced carpentry and delighted in sharing his craft with his grandchildren. He enjoyed trying new foods in the kitchen with varying degrees of success. He has passed down his love of history, reading, and quietly passing the time.
He spent long hours in his garden cultivating all manner of vegetables and was eager to share his harvest with anyone he could every year. His garden always included giant sunflowers which needed ladders for measuring. Dave tended to the local squirrel population tirelessly, even returning to his wood shop to reinforce their platforms as needed.
David leaves a legacy of patience, devotion, and dry humor. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.
David is survived by the love of his life, Beverly; children, Rachel VanDenburgh and Sarah (Kenneth) Dier; grandchildren, Grace Cochran, Alice (Ethan) Milukas, Madeline Cochran, Sophia Dier, Benjamin Dier and Abby Dier; great-grandchildren, Genevieve and Maximilian Milukas; brother, Paul (MaryAnn) VanDenburgh; sister, Merry Van Denburgh; and his nephews, Arendt VanDenburgh and Sean Van Denburgh.
He was predeceased by his parents, Henry and Albertha (Earle) Van Denburgh.
He will be remembered fondly by those he shared his life with and greatly missed.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, March 22, 2025 at 10 AM at the Trinity Episcopal Church in Plattsburgh. Committal Prayers, military honors, and burial will be held Tuesday, March 25, 2025 at 1:30 PM in the Mt. Pleasant Reformed Church Cemetery in Hudson.
