David Dean Walker, 87, of Fort Wayne, passed away on October 7, 2024. He was born in Fort Wayne, IN on October 4, 1937, a son of the late Gilbert and Eleanora Walker.
David was a 1955 graduate of North Side High School where he was active in band and several sports. He started his secondary education at Bob Jones University in Greenville, SC. In 1963 he received his Bachelor's
Degree and in 1967 his Master's Degree from St. Francis Collage in Upland, IN. He also attended Ball State University for further studies.
He began his teaching career at Blue Creek High School in Paulding, OH where he taught American History and Government. He then moved on to Lakeland High School in LaGrange, IN. in 1976 he accepted a teaching position at Warner Christian Academy in South Daytona, FL. It was at that point he felt a call to go into the ministry and became an associate pastor at White Chapel Church of God also in South Daytona. In 1980 he accepted a call to become the senior pastor at First Church of God in DeLand, FL where he served over 30 years as both the senior pastor and the head of the school, Lighthouse Christian Academy.
After retirement David and his wife Jean returned to Fort Wayne to live near their children.
He is survived by his wife, D. Jean Walker; sons Michael (Jeanne) Mueller, Barry (Debra) Walker, Mark (Deana) Mueller, and Scott Mueller; daughter, Susan Molinski; 16 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Chris Walker.
Funeral service will be held at 3 pm on Saturday, October 12, 2024 at Covington Memorial Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Rd., Ft. Wayne, IN 46804 with calling from 1 p.m. To 3 p.m.

Pastor Dave was my friend for many years and I was.an Usher at his church for many years he and Jean came to my home for Bible study and Bible groups and fellowship . He was a . Very sweet man and loved the lord and his church.and his family.he was a pretty good racquet ball player too .you were loved brother Dave and will be missed ,but you are in a better place.save a place for your precious wife Jean and we will see you soon my friend .
