David Owen Wilcoxson
February 5, 1948 – October 6, 2024
David Wilcoxson, 76, of Prospect, KY, passed away peacefully on October 6, 2024. Dave was born on February 5, 1948, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to the late Clyde Owen and Elizabeth Lahm Wilcoxson. He was one of three children. He was preceded in death by his brother, Gary Owen. He is survived by his brother, William Gregory (Dolly), his niece, Kelly and his nephew, Cody.
Dave proudly graduated in 1966 from Archbishop Moeller High School where he excelled in the classroom and on the football field, leading the school to its first undefeated state championship. After receiving 14 offers from Division 1 schools, he accepted a football scholarship to the Air Force Academy. He finished his football career at the University of Cincinnati where he earned a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration. Dave received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Louisville School of Law in 1975 before becoming a member of the American Bar Association.
Dave was the proud owner of Hot Locks Salon for the past 38 years, where he built a community of friends, stylists and long-time clients who were touched by his kindness, sense of humor, and loyalty. While the salon was a business it was also his second family. He cared deeply about the people who worked for him and took pride in their success.
Dave was an avid golfer, lifelong Cincinnati Reds fan and a father to his beloved golden retrievers. His passions extended to flying planes, snow skiing, riding motorcycles and cruising the Ohio River. He lived a full life. Dave was known for his warm personality and caring soul that he shared with so many. He will long be remembered for his smile, big heart and the joy he brought to others.
A celebration of life in Dave's honor will be Thursday, October 10, 2024, from 4:00 – 7:00pm at Big Spring Country Club, 5901 Dutchman Lane, Louisville, KY.
A memorial mass will be celebrated Saturday, October 12, 2024, at 10am at Our Lady of Lourdes, 508 Breckenridge Lane, Louisville, KY.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to GRRAND Golden Retriever Rescue and Adoption at 7924 Vine Crest Avenue, Louisville, KY 40222.

Broken now,
I touch this place, where whole was once found,
I feel the shattering,
piece upon piece,
My thoughts touching only the pain within this darkness,
It Cuts deeply within my soul,
Affirming all that I feel.
How do I say good bye and step forward into living,
Without you?
Im broken now.
-me-

You are never to be forgotten and forever you will be loved....you were a beautiful gift, and I will forever be thankful for my pause in time with you. Missing you so much.

Thanks for giving me a chance so many years ago Dave! You gave so many of us a great gift at Hot Locks by supplying us a cool place to spread our wings and become ourselves at our work place!

What a special group that i will always cherish for the rest of my life!

We will miss you so much!

Love ya Dave!

David was a beautiful man that captivated those he encountered with his fascinatingly intelligent mind, kind soul, sharp and clever wit, and a beautifully compassionate heart, who held a love for his dogs -his kids-that reached beyond measure.
My hero always. I will love you this day and forever. Laura N.

I learned so much about loyalty from, Dave. He was proud of his stylists, friends, and clients, and was always there for us. He was a true friend and mentor.
