David Eugene Wojnar, of Farmington, passed peacefully into eternal life on Wednesday afternoon, February 11, 2026, at Henry Ford Providence Hospital, Southfield He was 62 years old and leaves behind a legacy defined by resilience, faith, humor, and a deep devotion to the people and passions that shaped his life. From childhood through adulthood, David lived courageously and intentionally, embracing each day as a gift and inspiring those around him with his strength and determination.
Born on October 19, 1963, at Annapolis Hospital in
Wayne, MI, and raised in the Detroit area, David attended Saints Peter and Paul Elementary School in Detroit before graduating from Cody High School with the Class of 1981. At the age of nine, he was diagnosed with juvenile diabetes - a life-changing diagnosis that he faced with remarkable courage. Insulin-dependent ever since, David became a lifelong fighter, carefully managing his health with discipline and determination. He approached his condition not as a limitation but as a responsibility, following strict routines and maintaining a healthy lifestyle with unwavering commitment. Those who knew him admired the resilience and perseverance with which he navigated every challenge. 32 years ago, David was a grateful recipient of a kidney, and upon his death, his wish was to pay that gift forward, so he enrolled in the organ donor registry and became a Gift of Life donor.
David was known for his directness, his quick wit, and his unmistakable sense of humor. A natural jokester, he brought laughter into everyday moments while remaining deeply genuine and sincere. Above all, he cherished his faith and his family - especially his beloved mother, whom he loved fiercely and protected with unwavering devotion. A faithful Christian, David's spirituality was a guiding force throughout his life.
He carried forward a deep bond with his father through shared hobbies and creative pursuits. Together they built model airplanes and restored a cherished 1971 Chevelle from the ground up - a project that remained a source of pride and lasting memories. Inspired by his father's love of motorcycles, David developed a lifelong passion for riding, eventually embracing Harley-Davidson motorcycles. He also found joy in NASCAR racing, as well as bike riding, often cycling whenever the weather allowed and participating in Detroit's Slow Roll rides.
Professionally, David was a talented CAD designer who took great pride in his work and craftsmanship. Later in life, health complications led him to medical disability around 2010, yet he continued to live actively and purposefully, pursuing hobbies and interests that brought him fulfillment.
David possessed a creative spirit that extended into many areas of life. He loved woodworking, restoring and customizing bicycles, and exploring his growing passion for cooking and baking. Known among family and friends as an excellent cook, he delighted in preparing meals for others - especially his signature lasagna, as well as chili, delicious cheesecake, and homemade bread recipes which he carefully guarded.
A devoted uncle, David found immense joy in his nieces, nephews, great-niece, and great-nephew, whose presence brought him pride and happiness. He also leaves behind many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who will remember him for his loyalty, humor, and generous heart.
In his quieter moments, David enjoyed swimming, biking, watching cooking programs, and maintaining the disciplined routines that helped him manage his health. Those who knew him understood his strong will and independence - qualities that allowed him to live life on his own terms while facing challenges with courage and grace.
David's life stands as a testament to perseverance, faith, and the power of living intentionally. Though he faced lifelong health struggles, he never allowed them to define him. Instead, he embraced each day fully, valuing family, faith, and the simple joys that made life meaningful.
