David A. Young, 87, of West Frankfort passed away on Tuesday June 17, 2025 in his residence at 1:34pm.
He was born on May 25, 1938 in Springfield to Ralph and Lois (Cook) Young. He was a member of the 2nd Baptist Church in West Frankfort. David served in the United States Marine Corp. He enjoyed going on parachute jumps and was a licensed pilot.
David was preceded in death by his first wife Joyce, daughter Cindy Dexheimer, and his parents.
He is survived by his wife Rathel, whom he married April 27, 2019; daughters Tammy (Jack) Wolfe and Kimmy Giganti; son Jeffrey Young; step-daughters Rebekah (Nick) Brown and Dawn White; step-sons Michael (Christy) Housewirth, Robert Housewirth, and Nathan Housewirth; brother Stanely Young; 8 grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren; 11 step-grandchildren.
Services will be held on Thursday June 19, 2025 at the 2nd Baptist Church in West Frankfort at 2:00pm with Dr. Brett Beasley officiating. Visitation will be held from 12:00pm to 2:00pm prior to the service. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday June 24, 2025 in Edinburg Cemetery in Edinburg, Illinois at 1:00pm. Military rites will be observed.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois or to Prison Fellowship Academy.
