Dawn Lisa Mullis, beloved mother, wife, nana, daughter, sister, and friend, was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on May 25, 2025, surrounded by family who loved her deeply. At just 56 years old, she left behind a legacy of strength, love, and unwavering faith.
Dawn was preceded in death by her parents, Donna Lee Wilson and James Woodrow Wilson.
She is survived by her loving husband, Casey Mullis, and her children: Kristen Cole (Chase Cole), Jessica Collins (Steven Smith), Casilee Harper (Tripp Harper), and Aubrey Axton (Taylor Odom), and her beloved grandchildren: Madisyn Foster, Kyndal Foster, Kynsley Collins, Bryson Axton, Lincoln Cole, and Imogen Cole. Her memory will also be cherished by countless friends and extended family.
Dawn was born and raised in Blairsville, Georgia, by her loving parents, Donna Lee Wilson and James Woodrow Wilson. She later made her home in Newnan, Georgia, where she devoted her life to her family and her community.
Dawn's greatest joy in life was her family. She loved her children and grandchildren with a love that was fierce, loyal, and unmatched. She was their biggest cheerleader, protector, and guiding light. Whether it was showing up to every event, dropping everything to help, or offering a listening ear, Dawn made sure her kids and grandbabies knew they were her whole world. She lived for them-and through them, her legacy will carry on.
Dawn also deeply loved her husband, Casey Mullis. Their marriage was built on laughter, loyalty, and a whole lot of love-with one of Dawn's secrets to success being "two separate living rooms." From the very beginning of her journey, Casey never left her side. He went to every single doctor's appointment, held her hand through every hard moment, and stayed by her hospital bed until her final breath. His devotion to her was unwavering, and their love stood as a beautiful example of what it means to keep your vows-through sickness and in health, for better or for worse, until the very end.
For 38 years, Dawn served others with grace and a servant's heart as a waitress and manager at Sprayberry's BBQ. She wasn't just an employee-she became part of the lives of her customers and coworkers, leaving a lasting impression on everyone she met. Her warm smile, quick wit, and unmatched work ethic made her a familiar and beloved face to many in the community.
Dawn believed in doing what was right, loving without condition, and working hard for the people she loved. She touched countless lives through her kindness, encouragement, and honesty-never afraid to tell you the truth, but always doing so with love.
A born-again Christian, Dawn found peace and joy in her relationship with the Lord. She loved listening to Pastor Steve Helton and his wife Mary, and she clung tightly to her faith during every trial. She was a living example of Proverbs 31-strong, faithful, and full of dignity.
She was the rock of her family and the kind of woman who would give you the shirt off her back. She made sure her loved ones never did without and spent her life pouring into others. Her impact will continue to be felt in the hearts of those she loved, served, and inspired.
Her strength, her love, and her faith will live on in all of us. "He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds."- Psalm 147:3
The funeral service celebrating Dawn's life is Saturday, May 31, 2025, at 4:00 PM in the chapel of McKoon Funeral Home, 38 Jackson Street, in Newnan. Burial will follow the service at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.

I would like to express my sincere condolences to the family of Mrs. Dawn Lisa Mullis. Mrs. Mullis was such a wonderful person. I met her through her service as the Manager and Waitress at Sprayberry's. When my son and I moved here in August, 2001 we were welcomed at Sprayberry's by Dawn. She will be missed! May the family have continued comfort knowing she is home with Jesus! Sincerely, Alfredia H. Richardson
