Honoring the Life of Deacon James Edward Holt 
On June 2, 2024, God smiled down upon James Edward Holt and called him to rest.  He was born to the late Samuel and Helen Holt in Marion County. To this union, twelve children were born with Edward as the fourth child. 

Edward accepted Christ at an early age, joining New Welcome Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. E. H. Hart.  Later in life, he was ordained as a Deacon under the leadership of Pastor M. J. Galloway.  He was also a member of the New Welcome Baptist Church Male Choir where he enjoyed singing.

Edward worked as a Journeyman/Carpenter and joined the Union in New Orleans, LA.  Later, he started his own company called K & E Holt Contractors where he would build and remodel homes throughout the state of Mississippi.

In 1864, Edward married Katherine Daniels of Poplarville, MS.  Through this union, they were blessed with four children.

He was preceded in death by his parents Deacon Samuel and Helen Holt, three sisters Mary Terrell, Helen Fay Davis and Virgie Holt-Peters; three brothers, Samuel Holt, Jr., Charles Sylvester Holt and Lonnie Holt.

Continuing to cherish his memory is his loving and devoted wife of 60 years, Katherine Daniels Holt.  Edward's Legacy lives on through his 3 sons: Edward O'Brian (Loretta) Holt of Silver Creek, MS, Luvert (terry) Holt, Sr. of Fayettevile, GA, Elvender Holt, Sr. of Picayune , MS; one daughter Erecka (Johnny) Magee of Hattiesburg, MS, one Goddaughter, Jada Travis of Poplarville, MS; 12 Grandchildren and a host of Great Grandchildren; 3 sisters; Francis (Herman) Osbin, Minnie (Edward) Crockrum  and Geneva (Mack) Swain; 2 brother, Alvin (Hallie) Holt and Lawrence (Sharo) Holt.
Rev. M.J. Galloway, Pastor will officiate at the service. Interment will be in the Dave Mondy Cemetery, White Sand Community. Repast will be in the New Welcome Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. Entrusted to Brown's Funeral Home of Picayune, MS
