Nellie "Dean" Nicholson, age 84, went home to be with the Lord on November 8, 2025. She was born on December 25, 1940, in Gadsden, Alabama, to the late Milford and Sarah Sexton. Dean was married to the late Gary Hugh Nicholson for 59 wonderful years.
Dean will always be remembered for her incredible cooking skills. Her Pecan and Chocolate pies, Banana Pudding, and Chicken and Dressing were the favorites at every gathering, often disappearing before you could grab a second helping! Beyond the kitchen, Dean had a passion for fishing and loved tending to her garden, bringing joy and beauty to her home. Above all else, Dean loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A cherished member of the East Hiram Baptist Church, Dean found great joy in singing with the church choir, sharing her voice and spirit with her community.
Dean leaves behind a loving family, including her sons Dennis Nicholson and daughter-in-law Priscilla, Edward Nicholson and daughter-in-law Debbie, daughter-in-law Wanda Nicholson, brother Ronnie Sexton, many grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and several great-grandchildren.
Along with her parents and husband, Dean is preceded in death by her son, Randy Nicholson; daughter, Jackie Atcheson; and sister, Jimmie Sue Carr, along with several other siblings.
The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home on Monday, November 10, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. A funeral service will be held in the Sam Clark Chapel of Clark Funeral Home on Monday, November 10, 2025, at 2:00 PM with Pastor Ricky Bice officiating.
