Deanna K. Self, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on April 19, 2025, at the age of 81. She entered into eternal rest with a gentle spirit and a heart full of grace. Her unwavering faith, compassion, and Christ-like kindness touched countless lives, leaving behind a legacy of love and faith that will shine for generations.

Born on May 4, 1943, in Shawnee, Oklahoma, Deanna was the beloved daughter of Claudean and Irma Beatrice Murray. She graduated from Star Spencer High School in 1961 and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Education from Central State College in Edmond.

Deanna found immense joy in nurturing her family and friendships. Known for her warm smile, gentle humor, and boundless generosity, Deanna had a gift for making everyone feel valued and loved. She created moments of connection that will be treasured forever.

Deanna is survived by her devoted children: Kristie Self of Overland Park, Kansas; Kelly Morgan and her husband Dan of Gardner, Kansas; and Andy Self and his wife Sherri of Maryville, Tennessee. Her five grandchildren—Lizzy Morgan, Christine DiLollo (James), Grace Morgan, Ty Self, and Jake Self—were the light of her life, and she delighted in their growth and adventures. She is also survived by her sister, Joy Brink of Harrah, Oklahoma, and dear friends. Deanna was preceded in death by her parents, Claudean and Irma Beatrice Murray, niece Jennifer Brink and nephew Darren Brink.

A visitation to celebrate Deanna’s life will be held on Friday, April 25, 2025, from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, Olathe Chapel. A private graveside service will follow at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens in Olathe, Kansas,

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. She was a strong supporter of children going through serious health challenges.

Deanna often said, “I don’t have any casual friendships. I love my friends and they love me.” Her life was a testament to this truth, and her memory will live on in the countless hearts she touched with her compassion and grace.
