Deanna Kay Sheerin

Deanna Kay Sheerin, a beacon of love and laughter, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2025, at the age of 64, in her home in Holt, Michigan. Born on July 2, 1961, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, Deanna's life was a testament to her enduring spirit and her capacity to bring joy to everyone she encountered.
Deanna was a cherished wife to her devoted husband and caretaker, Jeff Sheerin, and a loving mother to her children, Kyler Sheerin and Ciara Doyle. Her family was the cornerstone of her life. She nurtured them with the same passion and dedication in her younger years that they returned to her during her 15-year struggle against Huntington's disease.
A proud graduate of Lansing Community College, Deanna earned her Associate's degree, which propelled her into a fulfilling career. She retired from Michigan State University's WKAR, where she served as a clerical worker for 25 years. Her professional journey also included significant roles at the Michigan Motor Cycle Association and as a manager at Office Supply House.
Deanna's Christian faith was a guiding light throughout her life, providing her with strength and comfort, especially during her courageous battle with Huntington's Disease. Her faith was a source of inspiration to those around her, and it was reflected in the way she lived her life with grace and gratitude.
Her interests were as varied as they were vibrant. Deanna had an affinity for music, which was a constant source of happiness and solace for her. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as vacationing with her family on the beach, where she reveled in the warmth of the sun and the soothing rhythm of the waves. Deanna's love for pandas was boundless and well-known, as was her appreciation for nature, which she expressed through her fondness for walking and biking through the scenic trails of Michigan.
Those who knew Deanna will remember her for her quick wit and her ability to find humor in everyday situations. She was a creative soul who approached life with a loving heart, always ready to extend a helping hand or share a kind word. As we bid farewell to Deanna Kay Sheerin, we celebrate a life well-lived, and a spirit that will continue to shine brightly in the memories of those she loved.
A celebration of Deanna's life will be held Thursday, August 28, 1:00 p.m. at the Palmer, Bush and Jensen Family Funeral Homes, Holt Chapel. The family will greet friends beginning at 12:00 noon. A light lunch will be hosted following the celebration. For those wishing, in lieu of flowers, the family encourages memorial contributions be made to the Hunting's Disease Society of America-Michigan Chapter (https://michigan.hdsa.org/) in memory of Deanna.
