Debbie Natalie Kellam, daughter of the late George Martin Kellam and Willie Mae Kellam of Accomack County, was born October 10, 1957 in Craddockville, Virginia. Debbie departed this life peacefully on August 10, 2024 at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia. As Debbie's health declined, she fought hard as much as she could. She realized that God needed her more.
Debbie was educated in the Public School System of Accomac County and a proud graduate of the "Class of 1976" from Central High School. She would attend the yearly class reunions and enjoyed mingling with her former classmates.
Debbie was a member of the Order of the Eastern STAR, Chapter 8, located in Eastville, Virginia. She was an active and faithful servant until her health declined.
Debbie knew the Lord. At an early age, she joined Holy Trinity Baptist Church where her father was a member. Later in life, she joined New Mt. Calvary Baptist Church and remained a faithful member until her health declined.
Debbie was the "Life of the Party". Debbie loved to be around family and friends having a good time. She had an "infectious" laugh and whenever you saw her she would show her big pretty dimples. Her favorite hobbies were playing bingo, dominos, and doing crossword puzzles. You would often find her outside playing dominos with her friends.
Debbie's love of her life, Fred Weatherly, whom preceded her in death, but not before spending 41 beautiful years together. Debbie loved her some "Picky" as that was his nickname.
Debbie and Picky shared a son together, which was Debbie's stepson. To her, "Boo" was her son and she raised him as just that. They had an unbreakable Mother/Son bond until her demise. Debbie had 3 other stepchildren whom she loved dearly, Patricia Ann, Christopher, and Leticia.
Debbie loved all of her nephews. She often said she was a "boy" lover and said they were easier to manage than girls. Debbie had two favorite nephews that preceded her in death, Gregory Walker and Breonya Collins. She often expressed her desire to raise them as her own.
Debbie loved her nieces. Eboni, who preceded her in death, was her care-giver and special niece. When asked or told to do something, she would say, "Eboni got me." She was so happy when Eboni took her to her first concert to see one of her favorite performers. Pumpkin, another one of her nieces and care-giver had a special bond with Debbie also. The two could be seen riding around Exmore Together laughing and enjoying each other's company.
Toya and Debbie were inseparable. Toya held many titles. She was her bingo partner, her hair stylist, and special niece. Toya stayed by her Aunt's side and visited her daily when she was at Sentara Norfolk General, where she worked.
Debbie was preceded in death by her father, George M. Kellam, Sr., sister, Clara Ann Walker, her companion of 41 years, Fred Weatherly, sister-in-law, Sue Kellam, and nephews, Gregory Walker and Breonya Collins.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her beautiful mother of 101 years, Willie Mae Kellam of Chesapeake, VA; her son, Fred (Markita) Weatherly of Chesapeake, VA; three sisters, Rosie (Thomas) Smith of Painter, VA, Danita (Linnie) Kellam of Norfolk, VA, Melissa (Reginald) Castle of Chesapeake, VA; three brothers, George M. Kellam, Jr. of Exmore, VA, Norman (Sandra) Kellam of Pungoteague, VA, James (Annie Pearl) Kellam of Exmore, VA; grandchildren, Zaiden Weatherly and Alayah Weatherly; special friends over the years, Sandra Kellam, Tina Kellam, Mae Fitchett, Vivian Christian and Gloria Drummond (Mama Girl); A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
