Debbie Shipley Kidd, 62, of Lexington, wife of the late Johnny Lee Kidd, passed away Wednesday, July 31, 2024 at Norton Audubon Hospital in Louisville.
Born July 14, 1962 in Lexington, she was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, attending all of the family's sporting events and activities. Debbie enjoyed working for Lowe's over the last few years. She loved traveling-- especially to Gatlinburg and Disney, playing bingo, visiting garage sales and watching UK sports. Debbie liked collecting elephants, Disney snow globes and teddy bears. She was an avid animal lover.
Surviving are 3 children: David Kidd (LeeAnn Ball) of Richmond, Jason (Megan) Kidd of Lexington & Michelle Kidd-Gakpo (Paul Gakpo) of Lexington; a daughter-in-law, Lindsay Akers of Georgetown; a brother, Eric Shipley of Stanton; 2 sisters, Charlotte Brown of Ft. Worth, Texas & Lisa Mattingly of Arlington, Texas; and 5 grandchildren: Kaitlyn Kidd, Jaden Kidd, Kyler Kidd, Louis Gakpo & Gracie Kidd.
Debbie was preceded in death by her mother, Frances Breeden Mattingly, and her father, Oscar Shipley.
Services will be 1:00 P.M. Thursday, August 8th at Great Crossing Funeral & Cremation with burial to follow in Lexington Cemetery.
Family and friends will serve as casketbearers.
Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. Thursday until the time of service.

Very pleasant, she had a nice smile and a good sense of humor. She always talked about her grandchildren. I´m going to miss our talks at Lowe´s. RIH my friend

I enjoy talking to Debbie when we worked at Lowe´s. She had a kind heart and a great sense of humor. She loved talking about her grandchildren.

Debbie was A wonderful friend and mom to her children. We use to do everything together I was there with her 3 children watched them grow up. Somewhere alone the years we lost connection with one another but I thought about her all the time I've always loved her like A sister, David Jason and Michelle just know that I always think about you all and I love you guys Y'all just hang in there I know it'll be rough probably but just think that she's in a better place now and she's not hurting then we're paying no more suffering I love you all Bless you guys bye for now
