Debbie Tomerlin Obituary

Published by Legacy on Nov. 28, 2024.
FORT WORTH - Debbie Thompson Tomerlin, 69, passed away surrounded by her loving family in her home in Fort Worth, Texas, on Friday, November 22, 2024, after a lengthy battle from Alzheimer's disease.
Debbie was born on April 15, 1955, in Fontana, California, to Donald and Mary Thompson. She married Raymond Tomerlin on February 14, 1975 in Austin, Texas. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother to her two children, Shaun and Christina, and granddaughter Kaileigh. She dedicated her life to Christ at a young age. In her local church, she served as a Sunday School Teacher, a Missionette Leader, a Women's Ministry Leader, and Children's Church Director. She always enjoyed singing specials in church.
Her career as a hair stylist/visagist began in her junior year in high school. She won many awards for her talent. She earned an instructor's license in cosmetology and also became a makeup artist. Her work was published in various magazines. She developed her career over 46 years in Austin, then in Fort Worth. During her last few years, she ran her own successful business. Because of her Christian faith, she viewed "the chair" as her mission field, ministering to her clients and leading some to Christ.
She had an infectious laugh and an eccentric personality. She enjoyed sewing, crafting, and baking. She made and decorated groom's cakes for several of her nephews.
She thoroughly enjoyed having High Tea with her family, dressing up, wearing hats, and creating the ambiance with intentionality. She was a fabulous hostess and loved to serve others. She gave generously and had a deep compassion to help those in need. She taught her children, in word and deed, to give generously of their time, talents and resources, given by God to serve others.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 44 years, Raymond Tomerlin; her mother Mary Thompson; and in-laws Louie and Bobbie Tomerlin.
Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Shaun Tomerlin; her daughter, Christina Tomerlin Ensminger and husband, Daniel; and granddaughter, Kaileigh Martin; her father, Donald Thompson; siblings George Thompson and wife, Carol; Cheryl Jungkind and husband, Eric; and Duane Thompson and is the "favorite Aunt Debbie" to a host of nieces, nephews, and family.
The family extends an open invitation on Friday, December 6, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. for a visitation at Greenwood Funeral Home in Memorial Suite B, 3344 White Settlement Road, Fort Worth, Texas 76107.
A private family burial will be held at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, December 7, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Oasis Community Worship Center, 5612 Glenview Drive, Fort Worth, Texas 76117.

Best memory with Debbie was while working on my hair, be it cut, curling iron, blow dryer, we talked about her family, recipe sharing, and our faith! She always had a smile on, not matter the circumstance in her life! Love to family from Janet Kasper
