Debora Baker Obituary

Published by Legacy on Dec. 31, 2025.
Belvidere, VT – Debora (Brown) Baker, age 66, passed away peacefully on November 18, 2025 at UVM Medical Center, after a months-long illness. Debbie was born on September 24, 1959 in Morrisville, VT to Amsden and Stella Brown. The third of four daughters, Debbie loved nature and the nearby Belvidere Mountain. She graduated from Lamoille Union High School and married her love, Jim Baker, in 1977. They welcomed three children into the world: Eric, Erin and Katie. Erin, only for a short time.

Debbie was a hard worker, often juggling several jobs at once, from waitressing to manufacturing to bookkeeping. She never moved away from her hometown and gave back to her community, holding several town offices and serving as school board member to Lamoille Union High School. She was a member of the Belvidere Congregational Church and was always willing to lend a hand at community events.

In her free time, Debbie loved going to the casino. She called it taking a break from reality. She also enjoyed gathering with family, baking, gardening, and watching The Waltons. She would always tell you what was what, but with a smile on her face.

She leaves behind her husband of 48 years, Jim, son Eric, daughter Katie (Tony Gillespie) and granddaughters Erin and Malia. She also leaves behind two sisters, Peggy (Richard) Wells of Kentucky, and Anna Jones of Hyde Park, sister-in-law Rut Baker of Swanton, as well as nieces (Misty, Amy, Susan and Tania) and nephews (Shawn, Shanon, Mo and Rich), their children, and numerous cousins and friends from throughout the years. She is predeceased by her infant daughter Erin, sister Kathleen, brother-in-law Bobo, parents Amsden and Stella, and in-laws Babe and Bunny Baker. A special thanks goes out to Mo and Andrea Jones for all of their help and support over the last months.

A Celebration of Life will be held in her hometown of Belvidere in the spring, date to be determined. In lieu of flowers please donate in Debbie's memory to your local food shelf or take the time to help a neighbor in need.
