Deborah Hamilton Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by The Meeks Mortuary & Crematory - Washington Street Chapel on Dec. 8, 2025.
Deborah J. Hamilton, 66, of Selma Indiana, passed away on December 7, 2025. She was born on August 21, 1959, in Muncie, Indiana. Deborah graduated from Union High School in 1977 and later attended Ball State University, where she studied music.
Deborah worked at Knapp Supply before meeting Gary Hamilton in the summer of 1980. They were married that winter on December 14, beginning a partnership that spanned more than four decades. After their daughters began school, Deborah returned to work, spending many years employed by the United States Postal Service until her retirement in 2009.
Deborah loved music and played several instruments, including the clarinet, piano, cello, and banjo. She often envisioned her family performing together "just like the Von Trapp Family," but it turned out that she was the only one with any real musical talent.
Deborah had many talents and found great joy working outdoors, tending her garden and growing beautiful flowers. She was a skilled woodworker, creating kitchen cabinets, beds, and other beautiful pieces for her family. She also enjoyed sewing, quilting, and knitting. Deborah was known for growing exceptional plants and flowers and often served as the family's "plant doctor."
In addition to her many talents, Deborah spent countless hours at the family farm, working alongside Gary and sharing in both the labor and the life they built together. Following retirement, Deborah and Gary embraced camping and travel, enjoying many adventures and making lasting memories with dear friends.
Deborah is survived by her husband, Gary Hamilton; daughters Shannon Coe (Nathan) and Andrea Williams (Dustin); grandchildren Hannah Holtzman (Jason), Addison, Alexander, and Isaiah Coe, and Lucas, Brennen, and Braxten Williams; her parents, Jon Driscoll and Betty Campbell (Frank); sister, Linda White (Tom); and her aunt Barbara Autry. She was preceded in death by her parents-in-law, Mary Lee and Stephen Hamilton.
At Deborah's request, there will be no formal services. A memorial gathering will be held at a later date to celebrate her life in the way she wished-with music, food, and fun.
The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel is entrusted with all arrangements and online condolences may be left for the family at www.meeksmortuary.com
