Deborah Kay Raley

Deborah Kay Raley, 71, passed away at home with her family after a lengthy battle with cancer on Friday, September 23, 2022. She was born in Frostburg on November 7, 1950 to the late Fredrick Bierman and Thelma Brown. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Paulette Raley; and grandson, Brandon Charles Raley.
Debbie was a graduate of Beall High School, Class of 1968. During her children's formative years she was a dedicated stay at home mom, after which Debbie went on to have a career with the Maryland Unemployment Office and retired as a supervisor.
Debbie was active with the Silver Sneakers Program at the YMCA and really enjoyed their swim group. She was an avid reader and supporter of the local public libraries. Debbie loved her community and made very close friends participating in the Bel Air Crime Watch, and her closest neighbors became family.
Surviving is her husband of 55 years, Robert Raley; her children, Sandra Fields, of Cumberland, Denise Hickman and husband, Jim, of Virginia Beach, Robert Raley and wife, Charity, of Grantsville; grandchildren, Olivia (Fields) Keefer, Kasey (Fields) Lamp, Cameron Hickman, Gabrielle Hickman, Maclain Raley, Aubree Raley, and Jaxon Raley; great-grandchildren, Aimzlee, Freya, Ember; brother-in-law, Larry Raley; sister-in-law, Debby Bittinger; former son-in-law, Michael Fields; and a large extended family of cousins, nieces, and nephews from the Bierman family.
Visitation will be Monday, September 26, 2022 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 15205 McMullen Hwy SW, Cresaptown.
A funeral will be held Tuesday, September 27, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. with Rev. Harold McClay officiating. Friends and family will be received one hour prior to the service.
Cremation will take place following the service.
