Funeral Services for Debra Diann Evans, age 75, of Talladega will be at Benefield Funeral Home Ashland, Thursday, September 18, 2025 beginning at 1:00 P.M. with Bro. Larry Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Poplar Springs Cemetery.
Mrs. Evans was born in Clay County and was a lifelong resident. After graduating from Bibb-Graves High School she worked in textile for over 45 years. Her greatest love was her family and she adored those grandchildren. She always enjoyed fishing and being able to travel with her husband Jim.
Mrs. Evans is survived by her son, Sean Waters and fiancé, Monica Rose; eight grandchildren, Kaitlin Ramsey, Kristen Kennedy, Grace Horn, Sam Waters, Charlie Horn, Darby Waters, Dalton Waters and Dallas Waters; three great-grandchildren, Berkleigh Norton, Nolan Norton and Ruby Kennedy; sister, Kathleen "Cat" Burkhalter; a large number of nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James "Jim" Evans; parents, Leonard and Grace Shirey; daughter, Sonja Danielle Waters; sister, Ruth Smith; four brothers, Troy Shirey, "Bud" Shirey, "Buck" Shirey and Jack Shirey.
Pallbearers will be Doyle Smith, Alvin Shirey, George Shirey, Roger Shirey, Mark Shirey and Robert Shirey.
The family will receive friends Wednesday at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland from 6-8.
