In her spare time, she loved spending time outside tending to her garden beds, feeding the birds, and fishing, who she gained the love of from her grandmother Brown. In her later years, she enjoyed going to the nursing homes to sit and sing with the elderly, and was involved with the many activities provided during her stay at Traylor's Nursing Home in Roanoke.
