Dedrick Leron Zackary, 44, a resident of Jennings, LA., passed away peacefully at his residence while surrounded by his family on Friday, August 2, 2024. Dedrick was affectionately know by many as Plum. He was born on July 16, 1980, in Lake Charles, LA to his loving parents, Alfred Zackary & Beatrice Nixon Zackary. Plum was baptized at the early age of 9 at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Youth Choir and attended Sunday School. Plum was an avid sports fan and collected many sport memorabilia (tennis shoes, caps, jerseys and much more). Plum loved spending time with his family and friends. He was a 1999 graduate of Parkview Baptist High School in Sulphur, LA and later attended Sowela Technical College.
Plum is survived by his two sons, Deontae Lamar Boutte and Quajae Deon Boutte, both of Lake Charles, LA; his parents, Alfred & Beatrice Zackary of Jennings, LA; two brothers, Swaine Teral Zackary of Houston, TX and Erick Terrell Zackary of Jennings, LA; his goddaughter, Whitney Trimble of Jennings, LA; his godson, Anthony Massey, Jr; his godparents, Reginal Whiting (Carolyn) of Conroe, TX and Mathilda Byers of Beaumont, TX; the mother of his children, Fredricka Boutte of Lake Charles, LA; a close friend, Donna Talbert of Lake Charles, LA; a host of other relatives and friends.
Plum was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Willie & Mary Zackary; his maternal grandparents, Willie & Edna Lehman; one sister, Iisha Bernice Perkins.
Celebration of Life Services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, August 10, 2024, in the Church Chapel at Semien-Lewis Mortuary in Jennings, LA. Reverend Pernell R. Trent, Sr. will officiate. Visiting with family and friends will be in the chapel from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. Burial will follow in Peterson Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Semien-Lewis Mortuary.
