Delbert Lee Williamson

Delbert Lee Williamson, 88, of Rossville, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, November 4, 2023. He was born in Fort Payne, Alabama on November 14, 1934 to the late, Lee & Omie Meadows Williamson and had lived in the North Georgia area for most of his life. He was a member of Parkway Baptist Church for many years, where he served as a Leader of the "Golden Agers", a Deacon and also in the maintenance of the building and grounds. He retired from Chattem Drugs in 1999 after more than 44 years of service and was known by his family & friends as "Mr. Fix It". He enjoyed piddling, spending time with his family and serving his church was where he found his true joy in living his life to the fullest. He was a loving and devoted brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend that will be truly missed by all who knew him. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Peggy Simmons Williamson; son, Daryl Williamson and brothers, Homer Wright, Raymond Wright, Jimmy Williamson, Leroy Williamson and Charlie Williamson.
Survivors include his sons & daughters-in-law, Dennis (Lynn) Williamson and Randy Joe (Pat) Williamson; brother, William Hughes; 2 grandchildren, Misty (Shane) Harris and Stephanie Harris; 4 great-grandchildren, Noah Harris, Kaitlyn Harris, Austin Harris and Addison Pizer; several nieces, nephews and numerous extended family & friends.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Staff at Parkside Nursing Home for their care and compassion for Mr. Williamson during his time with them.
The family will receive friends from 4 ~ 8 p.m. on Monday and prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. EST on Tuesday, November 7, 2023 in the Fort Oglethorpe Chapel with Rev. David Sampson officiating. Graveside services will be held at 3:30 p.m. EST at Fischer Cemetery in Fort Payne, Alabama with Bro. Noah Harris officiating.
