Delores S. Pierce, 93, of Moorhead, MN, went to her eternal home in Heaven on December 21, 2024, where she was reunited with her beloved husband, Rueben, after 8 long years.
Delores was born April 14, 1931, in Frazee, MN, to Edward and Rose (Trieglaff) Rohde. She was the valedictorian of the Class of 1949 at Hawley High School. After graduation she worked at Hanson’s grocery store in Hawley, where she met her future husband, Rueben Pierce. They were united in marriage on January 14, 1951. That same year Rueben was drafted into the U.S. Army, and they resided in Kansas while he completed his basic training at Fort Ripley. Delores would take her first and only trip by airplane to Fairbanks, Alaska, just to be with Rueben while he served two years in the Army. After his discharge from the Army, they resided in Hawley and Moorhead, and raised two sons, Mark and Gary.
Delores enjoyed her hobbies of painting ceramics, sewing, reading, doing crossword puzzles and watching Nascar. Many special memories were made as Delores and Rueben traveled in their Scamp trailer. She also enjoyed watching wildlife, fishing, spending time with her cats, and visiting with friends and neighbors over coffee each morning. She loved gardening and growing a bounty of tomatoes from seed each year, and she enjoyed mowing the lawn, even in her later years.
Delores is survived by her sons, Mark (Kim) Pierce, of Pelican Rapids, MN and Gary Pierce, of Fargo, ND; honorary daughters, Terry Nellermoe and Tammy (Cable) Pierce; grandchildren, Jasmine (Mitchell) Foster, Tara (Wes) Zilmer, Jade (Adam) Keller, Sean (Jenna) Lacoursiere and Brittany (Joel) Calvert; great-grandchildren, Naomi and Jacob Foster, Kyle, Karsyn and Alivia Zilmer, Kataryna, Isabella and Elijah Calvert, and Emma and Riley Lacoursiere, great-great grandchildren, Jerald and Wyatt Zilmer, and sister, Marilyn Tinjum. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Rose Rohde, her husband, Rueben, and her brothers-in-law, Clayton Tinjum and Robert Pierce.
A funeral service will be Monday, December 30, 2024, at 11:00 A.M., with visitation for one hour before the service, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Moorhead, MN. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Moorhead.
