Dennis E Griffiths

Dennis Eugene Griffiths - age 77 - dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and friend - left us peacefully at Abilene Memorial Hospital in Abilene, KS on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, with Kathryn by his side.
Dennis was born on June 1, 1947, in Abilene, Kansas, to John (Jack) and Evelyn (Spohn) Griffiths. From the beginning, he lived a life rooted in family, hard work, and a deep love for the land and animals. Along with his older sister, Elizabeth, and twin brother, David, he grew up west of Abilene in the Sand Springs community. After graduation from Abilene High School in 1965, Dennis joined the Army National Guard.
On June 19, 1971, Dennis and Kathryn (Davis) were married, and soon after welcomed their first child, Benjamin. 15 months later, Matthew arrived, and four years later, their family was complete when Tonya was born. With three active children, there was not a sporting event or activity that involved the kids that Dennis didn't attend. However, Dennis found his greatest joy in his grandchildren, whom he cherished above all else. His heart was full when surrounded by their laughter, and he always took immense pride in their accomplishments. He was a constant presence in their lives, offering guidance, love, and support in every way he could. To his grandchildren, he was not only a grandfather, but a mentor, a storyteller, and a true friend. His legacy will live on through their lives, as he taught them the values of love, hard work, and kindness.
Dennis and Kathryn called "the farm" home for 51 years. This is where everyone was considered welcome and where Dennis was truly happy. Many holidays, birthdays, and family gatherings were celebrated there as the family continued to grow. In 2013, Dennis retired after 25 years from Great Plains Mfg. where he was a supervisor at the Kipp plant. After retirement, he did not slow down; instead, he was able to fulfill his lifelong dream, to farm and ranch full time. A proud and dedicated farmer, Dennis spent much of his life tending to his cattle and the fields, cultivating the earth with a passion and commitment that was truly remarkable. He instilled his love for the farm and cattle in Ben and Matt, as they continue the family business.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Kathryn, of the home; children, Ben Griffiths, of Abilene; Matt Griffiths and wife Julie, of Solomon; and Tonya McCroden and husband David, of Minden, NE. He leaves behind his grandchildren: Quenton Timm, of Minden, NE; Jackson Griffiths and his wife Madi, of Wichita; Abigail Fiske, of Minden, NE; Lillian Griffiths, of Wichita, Madeleine Griffiths, of Wichita; Griffiths McCroden, of Minden; and great-granddaughter, Caroline. He also leaves behind siblings Elizabeth Smith, of Ottawa; David Griffiths and wife Liz, of Fuquay-Varina, NC; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandson Sidney Fiske, of Minden, NE.
A private family service will be held to celebrate his life. In lieu of flowers, Dennis requested that donations be made to the Sidney Fiske Memorial Scholarship, 429 N. Hull Ave., Minden, NE 68959.
Dennis's life was a testament to the importance of family and hard work. His impact on the land and on those he loved is immeasurable, and he will be missed deeply by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
