Dennis Harrison Obituary

Dennis Owen Harrison left us on April 18, 2022, leaving his wife Nancy Ann Chiodo of 65 years, his beloved children, daughter Denise Harrison Helland, sons, Christopher, Joseph, Dennis Scott, and David. They grieve his loss as they remember the wonderful, magical years of their lives together. Also mourning his passing are Robert Helland, Kimberly, Penelope, Deborah Harrison, his cherished 16 grand and great grandchildren together with family and friends all.
Denny was 87 years old and attended St. Benedict College in Acheson, Kansas, the Kansas City Art Institute, Drake University and was an Army veteran. He was a craftsman, an artist and a proud Des Moines firefighter for 29 years.
Above all Dennis Owen Harrison was an honest, hardworking, gentle man. He loved his home and cabin at Clear Lake. Though he traveled with his Nancy and made friends in much of the world, his heart belonged to his birthplace, where the air was rarer - Falls City, Nebraska. He was the son of Owen and Verna Gerweck Harrison, brother to David Raymond, sister Jacklyn and deceased sister Barbara.

A vigil will be held 4-8 pm Monday, April 25, 2022, at Dunns Chapel (2121 Grand Ave, Des Moines) with a prayer service at 7 pm.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 am Tuesday, April 26, 2022, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church (15 Indianola Rd, Des Moines).
Burial will follow immediately at Glendale Cemetery, Des Moines.
