Dennis “Denny” Nelson, 75, passed away suddenly on January 11, 2025.
Denny was born in Akron, Ohio to the late Richard & Betty Nelson. He graduated from Copley High School in 1968 and served in the U.S. Army. In June of 1978 he proudly joined The City of Akron as a firefighter. During his career he held positions of paramedic and fire investigator, retiring in June 2006 in the rank of Lieutenant.
Denny is survived by his wife of 50 years, Nancy; daughter & son-in-law Kelly & Dave Frisbee; grandchildren Kasen, Adelynn, & Kendall; brother, Terry; sisters, Pat (Dave), Pam (Tom), Shelly (Fred); and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he preceded in death by his sister, Sharon.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Friday, January 17th at Newcomer Funeral Home (131 N. Canton Rd., Akron), where there will be a short service and Last Alarm to follow at 6;00 PM
