Dennis W. Teter

Dennis W. Teter, 81, of Buhler, died July 7, 2024, at his home. He was born April 12, 1943, in Hutchinson, to Melvin "Mutt" and Norma (Schanbacher) Teter.
Dennis graduated from Buhler High School in 1961 and attended Hutchinson Community College, where he attained his associate degree. For his bachelor's degree in business, Dennis attended the University of Kansas, where he graduated first in his class. He worked as a certified public accountant for over 40 years.
Dennis was a devoted fan of Jayhawk basketball and the Hutchinson Blue Dragons. He enjoyed attending the rodeo and watching stock car races. Wherever Dennis went, he always carried a book with him. While he particularly appreciated reading western stories, all books and genres were welcome to him.
On June 12, 1971, he married Sherry J. Beavers at Bethany Church of the Nazarene. They shared 51 years of marriage, before her death on February 9, 2023.
Dennis is survived by: daughter, Amy (Marshall) Jackson of Nickerson; son, Justin (Amy Speirs) Teter of Wichita; brother, Douglas (Vicki) Teter of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Elizabeth Teter, Jasmyne Armstrong, Kaylee Teter, Draven Armstrong; great-grandchild, Hazel Murray; numerous nieces and nephews; and beloved grand-pup Apollo.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; wife, Sherry Teter; sister, Peggy Moffett; brother, Richard Teter, and infant brother, Billy.
Cremation has taken place. Celebration of life will be at 10 a.m. Saturday August 10, 2024, at Bethany Church of Nazarene, 408 N. Kent Rd., Hutchinson.
Friends may sign his memorial book from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday at Elliott Mortuary.
