It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Devon O'Neal Young, who departed this life on August 10, 2025, in a tragic accident at the age of 30. Born on September 7, 1994, in Paragould, Devon spent his life embodying kindness, passion, and an unwavering faith that inspired everyone he met.
A graduate of Paragould High School, Class of 2013, Devon dedicated the past ten years of his life to working in the pipeline industry, where he was known for his dedication and strong work ethic. Outside of work, he was a man of many pursuits, finding joy in the great outdoors while duck hunting, fishing, and playing disc golf. He valued his time with his friends and family and was known for his storytelling and ability to make people laugh. Devon had a particular fondness for tinkering on things alongside his father, Richie.
Devon was not only a loving son, grandson, and brother but also a devoted Christian who loved the Lord with all his heart. He never shied away from sharing his faith with others, leaving a profound impact on his friends and their families. He worked daily to be a better man, and his warmth and friendliness were felt by all, as he embodied the love of Christ in his daily life.
Devon is survived by his parents, Richie and Melody Gassaway Young; sister and brother-in-law, Molly and Kacey Johns of Sherwood; Grandma, Laura Young; Memaw, Jo Ann Gassaway; godson, Logan Simek; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins; and countless friends. He leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and friendship that will continue to inspire all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his Grandpa, Dean O'Neal Young; Papaw, Jack Lynn Gassaway; and cousin, Jackson Sheppard.
A visitation will be Sunday, August 17, 2025, from 6-8 pm at Heath Funeral Home. A service to celebrate the life of Devon O'Neal Young will be held at Heath Funeral Home on Monday, August 18, 2025, at 3 pm. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of Devon's vibrant spirit and to share their cherished memories.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Agape House of Paragould in Devon's memory, reflecting his selfless nature and dedication to helping others and the pride he felt for his Aunt Sunny's work.
As we bid farewell to an extraordinary young man, we take comfort in knowing that he is at peace, resting in the embrace of the Lord he loved so dearly. His laughter, faith, and love will echo in our hearts forever.
