James Edward Ivy Jr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at the age of 85. He was born on July 6, 1940, in Light and spent his life rooted deeply in the rich soil of his home state.

James graduated from Greene County Tech in 1959 and briefly attended Arkansas State University before returning to the family farm. From a young age, he embraced the calling of agriculture, dedicating his life to farming and cultivating the land he loved. He was known as "John Deere green through and through," a testament to his commitment to the trade and the values instilled in him from his upbringing.

Honoring his family's legacy, James was raised in a home where faith was paramount. His father, a preacher, often brought young James and his sisters to the radio station to sing before his sermons, fostering their love for music from an early age. James never took formal music lessons; yet, he learned to play the piano by ear, delighting family and friends with his renditions of Gospel and 50's music. He was also an avid Elvis fan and found joy in dancing, nurturing a spirit of happiness that he shared generously.

In addition to his passion for music, James had a talent for woodworking. He skillfully crafted desks and benches for his grandchildren, leaving a legacy of love marked by his handcrafted creations. He served his country proudly in the United States Army, a chapter of his life that added to the strength of his character. On April 15, 1967, James married the love of his life, Carolyn Knight, with whom he built a beautiful family. Together, they raised three daughters and cherished every moment spent with their grandchildren

A dedicated member of Light Baptist Church, James grounded his life in faith, embodying the principles of love and kindness that resonated through his actions. His warm spirit and generous heart will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

James is survived by his loving bride of 58 years, Carolyn Ivy; daughters, Kimberly (Jr.) Blanchard of Light, Crystal (David) Kirkland of Springdale, and Ashley (Andy) Weaver of Siloam Springs; grandchildren, Lindsey (Joseph) Rhodes, Isaac (Bri) Weaver, Madelyn (Jack) Baltz, Elijah (Peyton) Weaver, Jeremiah Weaver, and Caroline Weaver; great grandson, Benjamin Baltz; sisters, Ann Ballard, Jo (Bob) Ziegler, and Betty (Ron) Bray, as well as his extended family and many friends.

A visitation will be Saturday, October 11, 2025, from 1-2 PM at Heath Funeral Home. The funeral will begin at 2 PM with Rev. Tommy Stacy officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Joe Pratt, Tommy Justus, Dean Wall, Isaac Weaver, Elijah Weaver, and Jeremiah Weaver. In honor of James, please send memorials to Light Baptist Church.

In a world that sometimes feels distant, James Edward Ivy Jr. brought people together through love, music, and faith. His memory will shine brightly in the hearts of those who knew him, and his legacy will endure in the stories shared and the love imparted to future generations.
