Diana Sue Covert

Diana Sue Covert, 70, of Winchester, went home to be with her Lord on Friday, July 1, 2022 at Ascension St. Vincent Anderson Hospital.
She was born on June 27, 1952 in Anderson, Indiana, a daughter of the late Ollie McCune Jr. and Wilma Mae (Hague) McCune.
Diana was a 1970 graduate of Alexandria Monroe High School and, in 1973 graduated from Union Bible Seminary. She earned an associate's degree from Indiana Business College in Muncie. On July 21, 1973, Diana married the love of her life, Wayne Covert, and they began pastoring the very next Wednesday. For 25 years, they pastored churches in Indiana and North Carolina. Diana worked in Medical Records at Randolph County Hospital for 20 years. Diana had a servant's heart and loved caring for others. She was a long-time member of Sparrow Creek Friends Church and served as a Sunday School teacher for over 30 years and most recently as secretary. Diana was also very involved with her church's CYM family camp and served as Dean of Girls and Housing Committee Chairperson. Diana loved to read, quilt, and visit lighthouses and she especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Those left to cherish Diana's memory include her husband of almost 49 years, Wayne Covert; a daughter-in-law, Rebecca Covert of Ridgeville; three sons, Tim (Crystal) Covert of Markleville, Ben (Betsy) Covert of Evart, MI, and Nathan (Christa) Covert of Daleville; 9 grandchildren, Emily (Caleb) King, and Josiah, Clare, Ethan, Brianna, Evan, Caiden, Olivia, and Abigail Covert; a sister, Becky (Steve) Pyle of Jonesboro; a brother, Jim (Vickie) McCune of Marion; a sister, Pam McCune of Lititz, PA, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Diana was preceded in death by a son, Jonathan Covert; two brothers, Larry and Stephen McCune, and a sister, Sharon Haight.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, July 6, 2022, at Sparrow Creek Friends Church, 4030 W. 50 S. Winchester, Indiana, 47394 with Pastor Daniel Edwards officiating. Burial will follow at Fountain Park Cemetery in Winchester.
Friends may call from 4 – 8 pm Tuesday at the church.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Sproles Family Funeral Home in New Castle.
