Diana Mae Luttrell, 74 of Chapin, passed away Sunday, August 24, 2025, at Jacksonville Memorial Hospital. She was born April 11, 1951, in Jacksonville the daughter of Orville Sr. and Retha (Retzer) Wheatley. She married Dale Luttrell on June 19, 1970, and he survives.
She is also survived by two sons, David (JoAnna) Luttrell of Chapin and Marc (Erin) Luttrell of Jacksonville; three daughters, Sheri (Larry) Harris of Racine, WI, Lisa (Benjamin) Hughes of Morton, and Kristi (Zach Stenemeyer) Luttrell of Springfield; daughter in law, Theresa Luttrell; one bonus son, Rick (Jean) Hardy of Petersburg; thirteen grandchildren; one great grandchild; three brothers, Orville (Marla) Wheatley Jr. of Jacksonville, Robert (Karla) Wheatley, of Jacksonville, and Donal (Lora) Wheatley of Murrayville; two sisters, Wanda Adams and Marla Wheatley, both of Jacksonville; and many nieces, nephews, and her adopted children. Diana was preceded in death by two sons, Robert Luttrell and Jason Luttrell, and her parents.
Diana focused her life on being a wonderful mother and wife. She loved her family, enjoyed watching western television shows such as Gunsmoke and The Rifleman, and watching her family play Luttrell ball in the yard. She had a special love for her baby boy, Yadi.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at the Williamson Funeral Home in Jacksonville with burial to follow at Chapin Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 5p.m. until 7p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Shriners Hospitals for Children, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, or the Triopia Food Bank. Condolences may be left online at www.airsman-hires.com.
